to Wild Cherry Press Publishing. Wild Cherry was formed
in 2007.
Wild Cherry Press is a
print-on-demand, vanity-publishing book publisher. Our aim is to
help up-and-coming authors of quality material realise their dream
of seeing their books in print. Wild Cherry Press is not a self-publishing
book company. We differentiate ourselves because we only publish
manuscripts that have been approved by our selected readers and have
editorial approval. All Wild Cherry Press publications are subject to the
same editorial standards as a mainstream publisher.
A message from Rod Vickery
During a recent meeting at the London Book Fair I spoke with the
director of a recently established publishing company. He confessed to
me that business was so good that his team were having to reject
‘good books'.
“Why?" I asked him.
“A number of reasons really,” he explained. “Some are
grammatically quite bad and would need a lot of editing; some are
submitted in a poor format that would need hours of work to put
right and some require hours of research.”
He scratched his furrowed brow. “The thing is, Rod, I don’t mind
rejecting a bad book, but pushing these good books back to the
authors is just something I can’t cope with. It’s not why I started
the company.”
You may have gathered that I have known him for some time. I
persuaded him to stay on in London for the rest of the week and he
cancelled his flight back home. We had a series of meetings,
examined costings, and looked at presentations. Eventually, he
helped me form 'Wild Cherry Press'.
Wild Cherry Publishing have recruited the team necessary to
publish books like the ones my publisher friend cannot handle.
The concept is very simple. There are a lot of good books out
there that have never been published for the reasons stated above.
Wild Cherry Press will accepted such books for publication, but will
charge a fee for the service. I’m sure
you’ll agree the cost is very reasonable. You will be given a publishing
contract, the same kind of contract (apart from the initial costs)
that mainstream authors receive.
We will then freelance the work into the open market. We will
utilise editors (including for quality control), illustrators and
designers. The books will then be available for printing and
distribution. Then, and only after the finished article has
undergone a final proof check, will the book be sent to you.
Wild Cherry Press is a vanity press, but every book published by us will have gone
through the same kinds of process that would apply anywhere.
Throughout we will adhere to a our guiding principle, which is to help more quality authors see their work in print. |
